Av (אב), the fifth month in the Hebrew calendar, is marked by the mazal (zodiac) of Aryeh (אריה, Leo). This month is a time of duality—its first half is filled with sorrow, culminating in the 9th of Av (Tisha B'Av), a day of mourning. However, the second half brings joy and hope for renewal.  

Av is governed by the Hebrew letters ט (Tet) and כ (Kaf). ט, resembling a womb, symbolizes the number nine, representing the nine months of pregnancy.
